Clipse “Til The Casket Drops” Cover Designed by KAWS

November 11th, 2009 § 1

clipsetillthecasketdropscoverPeep the cover artwork for Til The Casket Drops, the upcoming album from acclaimed rap group Clipse, designed by street art marvel KAWS. This isn’t the first collaboration between the hip-hop duo and the artist, as he also designed the covers for their singles “Like A Big Deal”and “I’m Good,” as well as a recent Complex magazine spread.

This is a bit lackluster, in my opinion. Are we supposed to be amazed at the sight of KAWS’ signature X’s over the Clipse shield along with a cartoonish and embarrassingly amateur-looking casket? I’m a fan of street and lowbrow art, but I’m not too big on artists seemingly taking the lazy route. Meh. Oh well.

The new album features appearances from Kanye West, Cam’ron, and Rick Ross, production from The Neptunes and DJ Khalil, and drops December 8th.

Props to RapRadar for making me aware.
