Red Tails

People really seem to be divided over executive producer George Lucas‘ Tuskegee Airmen flick Red Tails. After Lucas went on a publicity campaign in which he took Hollywood studios to task for refusing to take a chance on his World War II passion project, the film went on to gross over $19 million at the box office this past weekend, coming in second place only to the action/horror fourquel Underworld: Awakening.

Nineteen million dollars is nothing to sneeze at, Dear Readers, and given the the rousing reception Red Tails has gotten from moviegoers, not only will it have a good shot at earning its $60 million budget back, it may even fly into the coveted $100 million club. The film has clearly struck a chord with its intended audience. But the question still remains: is it a good film?
