Last night — or, rather, early this morning — I worked on the mechanical for my forthcoming novelette Kisses for Tati. It only took a couple hours as evidenced by the simplicity of its design, which you can see above. I thought of using a photograph of angels embraced in a passionate kiss, but since that didn’t really fit with the whole idea of the story, I nixed that idea.
People have been hearing me talk about this project for some time but I’ve given precious little details about it. To sum it up, Kisses for Tati tells the story of a young woman (named Tati, naturally) who lives under the thumb of her older, overbearing sister Jacqueline. When Tati meets a charming brother named Roy, she sees a chance for happiness. But will Jacqueline allow that to happen?
I won’t lie, I’m worried about how people will receive Kisses for Tati. There’s a scene in the story that’s sure to raise eyebrows and may even cause some readers to look at me (and my work) askance. Oh well. It’s the story that begged to be told so I’ve told it.
Kisses for Tati will release in August 2012 in both paperback and eBook editions.
